ARRANGEMENT is
the construction of appealing melodies and lyric in the context of harmonies and countermelodies that can convey a song more
strongly. Arrangements are the juxtaposition in the balance between vocal and
instrumental tracks while creating an emotional impact with the song’s core identity. There are various Arrangement
tool sets including the following:
Melody Movements: constructing instrumental parts relative
to vocal melody
Syncopations: After a rhythmic subdivision
of a groove is created, syncopation occurs which is the rhythmic accents on the weak inner beats in the groove or known as
the beats between the pulses. Sncopated patterns are constructed in rhythm tracks
and in melodies
Instrumental Placements: use both linear placement
windows for vocals and vertical placements of separating frequency ranges
Vocal Harmonies:
create dynamic vocal arrangements in choruses, verses, bridges
Repetitions: develop instant familiarity of song section hooks
Instrument Dropouts: bring in and out instruments for specific effect—build, tension, resolve, suspense
Stops and Silence: use musical space of silence to build and lead to new song sections and/or drama
Intensity: change intensity through volume and texture to add drama in various song sections
A Capella: vocal only sections that enhance emotional builds and/or add drama
